How It Works

Bring your quilt top to life

CottonObsession provides professional edge-to-edge longarm quilting for quilt makers in Bellingham and Whatcom County, with mail-in projects welcome from farther away.

Whether you are finishing a first quilt or a special project, I will work with you to choose details that complement your piecing and help create a quilt that is ready to use, gift, or display.

1. Request quilting

Start by visiting the Request Quilting page and sharing a few details about your project. I will ask for your quilt’s measurements, your preferred timing, whether you are interested in batting, and whether you plan to drop off locally or mail your quilt.

2. Confirm the project details

Before quilting begins, we will confirm:

  • Your quilt top’s width and length
  • Your preferred edge-to-edge quilting design
  • Thread color and other design considerations
  • Whether you will provide batting or would like Warm & Natural 100% cotton batting
  • The final quilting price, based on your quilt’s measurements
  • Local drop-off or mail-in instructions
  • Expected turnaround time

Edge-to-edge quilting is priced at $0.0275 per square inch. I will confirm your final quote before I begin work.

3. Drop off or mail your quilt

I serve Bellingham and Whatcom County through local quilt drop-off. After your project is confirmed, I will provide the drop-off details.

Mail-in quilting projects are welcome. If you are mailing your quilt, you are responsible for shipping it to CottonObsession. I will provide the shipping address after we have confirmed your project.

4. Your quilt is quilted with care

I use a Bernina Q24 longarm machine and specialize in clean edge-to-edge designs that add texture and movement while allowing your piecing to remain the focus.

Typical turnaround is 1–2 weeks after I receive your complete quilt top, backing, and batting. Timing may be longer during especially busy periods, including November and December. I will let you know if a different timeline applies to your project.

5. Receive your finished quilt

When quilting is complete, I will contact you to arrange local pickup or return shipping.

For mailed projects, return shipping is calculated after the finished quilt is measured and weighed. I will confirm your preferred shipping method and invoice you for the return-shipping cost.
